Quick Answer
Wheelchair-accessible vehicles with ramps are available for Antalya Airport transfers — book at least 48 hours in advance. Standard folding wheelchairs fit in any sedan or minivan boot (no specialist vehicle needed). Power chairs and mobility scooters require the accessible vehicle. Airport assistance (gate to arrivals) is arranged through your airline, not the transfer company. Your driver waits in Terminal 2 Arrivals Hall, left side before the exit doors, with a name sign. Sedan to Belek: €80. Night surcharge: 30% (22:00–06:00). Child seat also available if travelling with children.
Airport Assistance at Antalya Airport
Before your transfer begins, you need to navigate Antalya Airport itself. The assistance system has two distinct parts — and confusing them is the most common planning mistake.
Part 1: Airline-arranged assistance (gate to arrivals hall)
This is the wheelchair and attendant service that meets you at the aircraft door or the gate and takes you through the airport to the arrivals hall. This is provided by Antalya Airport's ground handling companies (typically TAV Airports) on behalf of your airline.
How to arrange it:
- Request "airport wheelchair assistance" or "PRM assistance" (Persons with Reduced Mobility) when booking your flight
- If you booked through a travel agent or package holiday operator, they should arrange it — confirm they have done so
- Call your airline's accessibility line to confirm at least 48 hours before departure
- Repeat the request for your return flight
At Antalya Airport: you will be met at the aircraft door or the gate. An airport wheelchair and attendant will take you through the terminal — through security lanes, the immigration desk, to baggage reclaim, and to the arrivals hall exit. This service is free and is not provided by the transfer company.
If no assistance appears: ask any airport staff member. Say "PRM assistance please" or "wheelchair please." The ground handling team can be called within minutes.
Part 2: Transfer company assistance (arrivals hall to hotel)
This is what AntalyaTransfers.co provides. Your driver is in the arrivals hall with a name sign. They will assist with your wheelchair and luggage from the sign zone to the vehicle and from the vehicle to your hotel room entrance.
The two services are sequential — airline assistance to the arrivals hall, then transfer company from the arrivals hall onwards. They must both be arranged separately.
Which Vehicle for Which Mobility Equipment?
Matching the right vehicle to your equipment is the central planning question:
Standard sedan (Mercedes E-Class):
- Manual folding wheelchair: YES (passenger transfers to seat, chair folds and goes in boot)
- Transit/transport wheelchair: YES
- Rollator / walking frame: YES (folds, goes in boot)
- Power wheelchair (compact, foldable): SOMETIMES — check dimensions at booking
- Full-size power wheelchair (non-foldable): NO
- Mobility scooter (travel size, foldable): SOMETIMES
- Full-size mobility scooter: NO
Minivan (Mercedes Vito):
- Manual folding wheelchair: YES — larger boot
- Rollator: YES
- Power wheelchair (compact): YES — larger boot
- Full-size power wheelchair: NO — cannot load without ramp
- Travel scooter (folding): YES
- Full-size mobility scooter: NO
Accessible vehicle (wheelchair-accessible van with ramp):
- Manual folding wheelchair (stay in chair): YES
- Power wheelchair (passenger remains seated): YES
- Full-size mobility scooter: YES (if within weight limits — provide specs)
- Specialist tilt/recline wheelchairs: YES — confirm dimensions
- Hospital-style transport chairs: YES
The decision rule:
- If you can transfer to a standard vehicle seat → standard vehicle
- If you must remain in your wheelchair during the journey → accessible vehicle with ramp (48-hour notice required)
Wheelchair-Accessible Vehicles: What's Available
The accessible vehicle fleet for Antalya Airport transfers consists of converted Volkswagen Transporter or similar high-roof minivan with:
- Electric or manual tail lift / side ramp — able to accommodate standard wheelchairs and most power chairs up to 300 kg combined (passenger + chair)
- Floor anchor points — tie-down straps for wheelchair securement during transit
- Headroom — minimum 130 cm clearance for seated passengers
- Air conditioning — rear cabin as well as front
- Seating for companions — typically 3–4 additional seats for carers and travel companions
Dimensions: wheelchairs up to 70 cm wide and 120 cm long are accommodatable. For wider chairs (bariatric wheelchairs), contact us with dimensions before booking.
Weight capacity: up to 300 kg for the wheelchair + passenger combined. Heavier configurations — contact us directly.
Not included as standard: oxygen supply connections, hoist systems, stretcher transport. Contact us if you require these — some specialised vehicles may be arrangeable with extended notice.
Advance booking requirement: accessible vehicles are not held at the airport as standby vehicles. They are dispatched from a pool following confirmed bookings. 48 hours minimum notice is required. For July–August peak season, book 5–7 days in advance.

Night surcharge: 30% added to all prices for transfers departing 22:00–06:00 Turkey time.
No extra charge for: driver assistance with wheelchair loading/unloading, driver assistance at hotel entrance, use of waiting time for oversized baggage collection.
How to Book an Accessible Transfer
For a standard vehicle booking (folding wheelchair, passenger transfers to seat):
- Use the standard booking form at
/en/book - In the notes field, specify: "wheelchair user — standard folding chair — transfers to seat"
- State the wheelchair type and any unusual dimensions
- If you also need a child seat, state this here too
For an accessible vehicle booking (power chair, scooter, or cannot transfer):
- Contact us directly first — via WhatsApp (+905315972234) or the contact form
- Provide: wheelchair type and model, dimensions (length × width × height when occupied), combined weight of passenger + chair
- We confirm availability and provide a price quote
- Then complete the booking — the accessible vehicle is assigned to your reservation
What to include in the booking notes for any accessible transfer:
- Type of mobility equipment
- Whether the passenger can transfer to a vehicle seat
- Any medical equipment being transported
- Whether airport assistance (airline-arranged) is confirmed
- Approximate arrival of oversized baggage (power chairs typically come out last, after standard bags)
Step-by-Step: Accessible Arrival at Antalya Airport
At the aircraft
Step 1 — Airline assistance. If you arranged PRM assistance with your airline, an attendant and airport wheelchair will meet you at the gate or aircraft door. Do not leave the aircraft until you see your wheelchair or the airport attendant — do not accept a generic airport chair if you need your own.
Step 2 — Your own power wheelchair from hold luggage. Power chairs are transported in the hold and delivered to the oversized baggage area, not the main carousel. This is typically to the side of the main hall — a separate counter or door marked "oversized" or "sports equipment." Airport staff will bring your chair to you on request. Allow extra time — power chairs are often the last items unloaded.
Through the terminal
Step 3 — Immigration. PRM assistance includes queue bypass at immigration. The airport wheelchair attendant will take you to the accessible lane. Declare any medical equipment or prescription medications at customs if required.
Step 4 — Baggage carousel. The PRM attendant will collect your luggage from the carousel. If you are travelling independently, the carousel area has enough space to manoeuvre a wheelchair alongside the belt.
Step 5 — Accessible toilets. Available in both the pre-customs and post-customs sections of T2. Wide, with grab rails and turning space. Ask the PRM attendant to show you the location.
Step 6 — Exit to arrivals hall. The customs exit has an accessible lane — wide automatic sliding doors. The PRM attendant will bring you to the arrivals hall exit.
Meeting your driver
Step 7 — Find your driver. In T2, turn left after the automatic sliding doors. Drivers with name signs stand in the official zone before the taxi rank. Your driver knows you are arriving with mobility equipment and will be looking for you.
Step 8 — Walking route to vehicle. The driver will assess the smoothest route to the vehicle. The standard route through the car park is flat but has some uneven cobblestone sections. A smoother alternative route via the covered walkway is available — ask the driver.
Step 9 — Loading. For folding wheelchairs: the driver folds the chair and loads it in the boot while you transfer to the seat. For accessible vehicles: the ramp deploys, you drive or are pushed into the vehicle, and the floor anchors are secured. The driver checks the anchor straps.
The journey
Step 10 — Drive to your hotel. The driver knows your hotel. For resorts with guarded entrances (Rixos, Cornelia), the driver will check in at the gate. For hotels with steps at the entrance, the driver will inform you in advance so you can request level access from the hotel.
Step 11 — Hotel drop-off. The driver will assist from the vehicle to the hotel entrance. For accessible vehicles, the ramp deploys at the hotel if needed. The driver does not enter the hotel — room-level assistance is provided by hotel staff.
Step 12 — Payment. Pay on arrival. Cash EUR preferred. Card also accepted.
Power Wheelchairs and Mobility Scooters
This section covers the specifics of travelling with powered mobility equipment:
Airline transport of power wheelchairs:
- Most airlines transport power wheelchairs free of charge as mobility aid (not counted as regular luggage)
- The battery type matters: wet cell / gel batteries may be restricted; lithium batteries are restricted to certain watt-hour limits
- Confirm battery type with your airline and provide documentation
- Airlines will often ask you to disconnect the battery — do so at check-in
- At Antalya Airport, reassemble at the oversized baggage area before exiting
At the transfer:
- For vehicles without ramps: compact folding power chairs (e.g. Whill Model A, Fold&Travel) have been transported in minivan boots with the battery removed — confirm fit with us before booking
- Full-size power chairs (e.g. Permobil, Quickie Q700) require the accessible vehicle with ramp — standard minivans cannot safely load these
- Provide the make and model when booking — we can often confirm fit from specifications
Mobility scooter specifics:
- Travel scooters (e.g. Pride Go-Go Elite Traveller): fold into 5 parts, fit in a minivan boot. Minivan booking recommended.
- Standard-size 3-wheel scooters (e.g. Drive Scout): do not fold. Require accessible vehicle.
- Heavy-duty 4-wheel scooters: require accessible vehicle. Confirm weight and dimensions at booking.
Travelling with a Carer or Companion
Most wheelchair users travel with at least one companion or carer. Vehicle capacity:
Accessible vehicle (WAV): typically 1 wheelchair user plus 3–4 companions. For larger groups, contact us — a minibus conversion may be arranged.
Standard minivan: 1 folding wheelchair user plus up to 5 companions (the wheelchair user occupies one of the 6 seats; the folded chair is in the boot).
Pricing: vehicle price is per journey, not per person. A carer or companion travelling in the same vehicle is included in the vehicle price — no per-person surcharge.
Resort Accessibility: What to Expect on Arrival
Belek (43 km, 45 min): The Belek resort hotels are modern (built 1990s–2010s) with generally good accessibility. Cornelia Diamond, Rixos Premium Belek, Regnum Carya, and Gloria Golf Resort have lifts, accessible rooms, and pool ramps. Request an "accessible room" or "disabled room" specifically at booking — rooms vary.
Lara Beach (25 km, 25 min): Lara hotels are similar in vintage to Belek. Titanic Beach Lara, Delphin Imperial, and Papillon Zeugma have accessible facilities. The beach itself has some stepped sections — ask the hotel about beach wheelchair access.
Side (65 km, 65 min): The large resort hotels on the Side coast have good accessibility. The Side old town (archaeological site) has uneven stone surfaces and is largely inaccessible for power chairs.
Kemer (35 km, 35 min): Kemer town has some uneven surfaces. Resort hotels in the Kemer area are generally accessible. The pine forest areas around Kemer involve some unpaved paths.
Alanya (130 km, 110 min): Modern resort hotels in Alanya have good accessibility. The old town and harbour area have some stepped sections. The Alanya beach promenade is flat and accessible.
Private Transfer vs Taxi vs Bus for Wheelchair Users
| Option | Price | Journey | Wait time | Drop-off | Night | Overcharge risk |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Private transfer (AntalyaTransfers.co)Recommended | €80 sedan / €105 minivan | Direct — no stops | Free 60 min (flight tracking) | Door-to-door | +30% (stated upfront) | ✅ None — fixed price |
| Licensed yellow taxi (official rank) | €35–€55 metered | Direct | 0 min (queue at rank) | Door-to-door | Meter runs at night rate | ⚠️ Low — use metered only |
| Unlicensed tout / "private taxi" | €40–€120 negotiated | Direct | 0 min | Door-to-door | Unregulated | 🚨 High — common tourist scam |
| HAVAS airport bus | €4–€8 per person | Multiple stops — 60–90 min | Fixed schedule | City bus stops only | Limited night service | ✅ None |
| Rental car | €30–€80/day + fuel + parking | Self-drive | Queue at desk | Self | Self | ✅ None (own risk) |
Metered taxi for wheelchair users: licensed yellow taxis are standard vehicles (saloon cars or estate cars). They cannot accommodate power wheelchairs or mobility scooters. For a folding manual wheelchair, the driver may be willing to fold it and put it in the boot — but this is not guaranteed, and taxi drivers are not trained in wheelchair handling. There is no accessible vehicle provision in the licensed taxi rank at Antalya Airport.
HAVAS bus for wheelchair users: HAVAS buses to Antalya city centre have accessibility provisions (low floor entry, space for one manual wheelchair). However, they do not serve resort areas. They are not a viable option for most tourists with mobility needs.
The private transfer is the only option for power wheelchair users and mobility scooter users. For manual wheelchair users who can transfer to a seat, a standard private transfer or taxi both work — but the private transfer provides the guarantee of assistance, child seat provision, and flight tracking.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to book an accessible vehicle or will a standard one work? If you can transfer from your wheelchair to a standard vehicle seat, a standard sedan or minivan works fine. If you must remain in the wheelchair during the journey, you need the accessible vehicle with a ramp.
How much notice do I need to book an accessible vehicle? 48 hours minimum. In peak season (July–August), 5–7 days.
Can I take my rollator on the transfer? Yes. A rollator folds and fits in the boot of any vehicle. Mention it in the notes.
My airline lost or damaged my wheelchair. What should I do? Report immediately at the airport lost and found desk. The airline is legally required to provide a temporary replacement. Contact your insurance and our booking line — we can arrange an accessible vehicle for the transfer once the situation is resolved.
Is the D400 road smooth for wheelchair users? The road quality does not affect the wheelchair user during transit — you are seated in the vehicle. The relevant surface quality is at the hotel entrance and within the resort. Ask your hotel about accessible pathways.
Can I book at the airport if I didn't pre-book? For a standard vehicle with a folding wheelchair: yes, subject to availability. For an accessible vehicle with a ramp: only if one is available (unlikely without advance booking). This is why advance booking is strongly recommended.
Is there a night surcharge for accessible transfers? Yes — the standard 30% for transfers departing 22:00–06:00 Turkey time applies.
Payment — can I pay by card? Yes. Most vehicles have a SumUp card reader. Mention card payment preference at booking.
Can my carer pay separately? The vehicle price is one amount — the booking party pays. How costs are divided between the passenger and carer is a personal arrangement.
What if I need a rest stop? For any journey over 45 minutes, ask the driver. Accessible petrol station toilets are available on the D400. Not all petrol stations have accessible facilities — the driver will know which ones do.
